After a lot of hard work a new version of GMPC has been released. The version numbering has changed, the new release is called 11.8, next releases will be in this format: YY.M where Y = Year and M = Month of release.
Some notable new features are:

There is no beta available at this moment.
The 0.18.0 release is a succesful release with a great load of new features. A few of the new remarkable are the global copy/paste system, songs can now be copied and then pasted in any playlist. Another great new feature is the 'easy command', if you want to know what this powerful feature is, read the tutorial in the tutorials section. As for the easy part of gmpc, the barrier for windows users is now lowered by making an easy installer for the windows executable. Since 0.16.1 there is done a lot work, a whole bunch of bugs in both gmpc and libmpd are fixed and so this version is a great improvement on 0.16.1. One great improvement is the speeding up of metadata storage, the saving of the config/metadata file is now +- 50 times. Another simple, but effective new feature is that it always saves the window sizes, so your changes in window size will actually be saved and used uppon restart. The 0.16.1 release is an update on the 0.16.0 release with some bugfixes in it and so the plugins from 0.16.0 are compatible with this release. For more information according the changes and bugfixes, please check the wikia link below.
In the 0.16.0 release from GMPC there are a lot of bugs fixed and cleanups done. There is better support for metadata fetching and the speeds for fetching the data is also improved. The main interface is tightended and there are some translations updated so gmpc supports other languages better. For a full changelog and a download link, please click the link below.
If you want another version than the above ones, you can try the link below to find your suitable version. Though the current stable release is recommended, you can always choose to download a beta, rc or an older version than 0.16.0. On the musicpd sourceforge page all versions from 0.10.0 until now are posted, so you can download anything to your likes. Another extra is the fact that the page has also got all mpd versions and other gui's for mpd available.
